OUR MISSION

To honor & continue Lindsey Horton’s love for nursing & healthcare services.

LOVE LIKE LINDSEY

Our Inspiration

Lindsey Horton was a registered nurse at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews, Texas who worked in the Surgery Department. On August 10, 2020, after completing two cases she took a restroom break; after she had not returned for a while her coworkers began looking for her, but she was behind a locked restroom door. Maintenance arrived to pull the core of the lock and once they entered there lay Lindsey’s lifeless body on the floor. Lindsey’s cause of death was determined to be “Sudden Cardiac Death due to Mitral Valve Prolapse”, she went into a fatal arrhythmia, most likely ventricular fibrillation. Lindsey died three months before she would have graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. The Lindsey Horton Memorial Scholarship Fund was started in honor and memory of Lindsey and will provide scholarships to nursing students and other healthcare fields so that out of tragedy can come some good.

Fundraising to support our Mission

Our initial goal in 2021 was to provide three $10,000 scholarships to students from Andrews County; however, thanks to an outpouring of generosity, we were able to raise close to $100,000. This allowed us to give scholarships in not only Andrews but in Lamesa, Crane, Rankin, and Fort Stockton as well. To date, we have given over $400,000 in scholarships in Lindsey’s name.
